This 5 CMD Command Can Boost Your Internet Speed
Slow internet speed is a very common and irritating problem for internet users. There are various reasons are responsible for this slow internet speed problem, like PC, ISP, Router, Cable, etc. The common problems like TCP, IP address, DNS related problems are can be solved very easily, by using the Windows CMD you can boost internet speed.
Under are few Command Prompt Commands which will help you if you facing the above slow internet speed problem. Use the below mentioned Command Prompt Commands, but first, know how you get access to the CMD.
5 CMD Command To Boost Your Internet Speed
GET ACCESS TO THE COMMAND PROMPT
Depending on different Windows versions, there are lots of ways available to access Command Prompt with administrator rights. one easy method is type cmd in the Windows search bar and right-clicks on the Command Prompt Option. After doing that, you select ‘run as administrator‘ from the context menu and confirm the dialog to open Command Prompt with administrator rights.
MUST NOTE: THIS WILL BE GOOD IF YOU RUN ALL OF THE BELOW-MENTIONED COMMANDS IN A COMMAND PROMPT WITH ADMINISTRATOR RIGHT AND SOME OF THESE COMMANDS ARE ALSO REQUIRED FOR THIS.
A. RENEW IP ADDRESS
Many times for IP conflict or DHCP server problem the internet can be slow. But the good thing is in large cases a simple IP address can reset all you will need to fix the above problem.
To first release the connection with the current IP address you can use two Command Prompt commands, know how you will do that from below:
- WRITE, ipconfig /release COMMAND AND PRESS ENTER. SOME LARGE COLUMNS OF TEXT WILL APPEAR.
- THEN, WRITE ipconfig /renew AND AGAIN PRESS ENTER. MOST PROBABLY IT WOULD RESET YOUR IP ADDRESS AND SOLVE ANY INTERNET SLOWDOWNS WHICH COULD BE HAPPENING FOR AN IP ADDRESS ISSUE.
NOTE: REMIND THAT REASSIGNED THE SAME IP ADDRESS AS BEFORE IS NORMAL, HERE THE POIND IS TO DISCONNECT AND CREATE A NEW CONNECTION.
B. FLUSH DNS RESOLVER CACHE
Users easily create a connection with a website that they have previously accessed because of PC keeps a list of website hostnames and IP addresses that users visit and saves it in DNS resolver cache. In the procedure there is a possibility that any corruption in the DNS resolver cache could lead to slower or no access to the website, actually, that may not slow down your actual internet but it could slow down your overall browsing. To fix this kind of problem you can flush the DNS resolver cache to fix the issue.
You can enter the command ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter to flush DNS resolver cache. I think you will see a confirmation that says ‘Successfully flushed DNS Resolver Cache‘
C. RESET WINSOCK
Corruption in shocklets or an infected LSP could lead to a slow connection, no access to websites, and website redirects. Generally, to exchange information, Windows uses multiple network sockets, and programs can install LSP (Layered Service Providers) to manage traffic and redirect it to the proper way.
You only Reset Windows network sockets back to default, and for this type, the command netsh winsock reset in Command Prompt and click on Enter. After doing that, you restart your PC, to boost your internet speed.
D. USE NETSH COMMAND
Multiple network settings affect the performance of your connection directly, and to arrange multiple network settings you can use the netsh command. Did your internet take an unusually long time to connect to websites? If yes, you can do multiple changes in the network to speed up the connection. Some netsh commands are mentioned below which you can use to speed up your connection.
There, the “Ok“ message will confirm that it has been carried out. Must know that some of these commands may not work on your PC because of limited similarity.
- netsh int tcp set global chimney=enabled
- netsh int tcp set global autotuniglevel=normal
- netsh int tcp set supplemental (Alternative command for Windows 7 users is at the end)
- netsh int tcp set global dca=enabled
- netsh int tcp set global netdma=enabled
- netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=enabled
- netsh int tcp set global congestionprovider=ctcp (For Windows 7 users)
Just enter these CMD commands and next restart your PC thus the configurations can take effects easily, normally, these would boost overall speed internet speed along with connectivity.
If you get any kind of problem then, replace enabled part of these commands with disabled and enter. Like as an example, the command netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled which will disable Chimney offload part.
E. SPEED UP STREAMING
Sometimes, users get internet speed very good but they face problems in video streaming websites such as YouTube, Tiktok. This becomes very slow for a particular reason like your ISP may be throttling your connection. This is common for ISPs to throttle streaming to save bandwidth, but through using a simple command you can solve the issue.
You have to enter the below command in the CMD and then press the Enter
netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name= “StopThrottling” dir=in action=block remoteip=173 . 194.55.0/24 , 206 . 111 .0 .0/126 enable=yes
This will add a rule in your firewall which will prevent your ISP from throttling your connection at the time of streaming.
