Google’s services are using by us almost every day. That’s services of Google are also important in our daily busy routine, for example, we use Gmail/Inbox for our daily easy communication, Google maps for searching the place, Google Photos for storing our pictures on the cloud and YouTube for relaxing or for entertainment. The Google search service is also very helpful to us for searching something.
The most important things we have to know must that, Google, the big internet giant, is collecting all the data from your account. The top products of Google have 1 billion customers and those lots of data they can collect.
It is also true that Google had one single data policy for all services. If you will want to know that what does actually Google doing with your data, you have to follow some technique and then you can actually view what Google did in your account. Through, some changing in Google’s account settings you can prevent the collection of your data and also download all of your data which are collected by Google. HOW TO MANAGE YOUR GOOGLE ACTIVITY AND DATA?
To manage your data preferences firstly go to myaccount.google.com and view, ones around data use and all settings. Then also go on Gmail and tap the icon where your account profile picture appears and below in this the option for my account should open up. For privacy Checkup there will be one option in My Account settings, take this and manage your privacy settings for YouTube, Google Photos, Google Plus, etc. Some of your activities on Google’s Products will hide through this complete list. WHAT IS SHOWN ON ACTIVITY CONTROLS IN GOOGLE?
Activity controls is another interesting part of My Accounts page on Google and you can get this at myaccount.google.com/activity controls. Here an option where Google saves all your search activity on apps and in browsers, this options name Web and App Activity. It also includes Chrome browser history. Google stored activities includes Location History, Voice and Audio Activity, Device information and YouTube Watch History and Search History. “This is done to make search experience faster and more customized“, said Google. Google saved everything you searched until you manage each of these activities and turn off them.
WHAT ABOUT GOOGLE MAPS?
A user can go to http://www.google.co.in/maps/timeline and see all of their past travel histories, or in the My Activity settings, you click on Manage Activity, followed by Manage Location History and toggle it off if you do not want this being collected again.
WHAT IS VOICE AND AUDIO ACTIVITY THAT GOOGLE IS RECORDING?
Go to the Voice and Audio Activity, section and through, “Help recognize your Voice and improve speech recognition by storing your voice and audio inputs to your account” as example you say “OK Google” to do a voice search. Every every single voice command you have given to Google Assistant and more is stored here and also you have an option of turning this off. To turn off toggle that blue button off and go to Manage Activity to see all the recordings and just delete them if you do not want Google to have access to that data again.
WHAT ABOUT ADS AND TARGETING? TURN OFF THIS
Go to add settings in My Accounts, and you will see an option for ‘Personalize the Ads you see’ , then click on Manage activity and then turn off this.
There is also another option for opting out of more ads at the bottom of this page. Here will be names of various companies, you can choose to opt-out of customized ads from all these players while browsing the web on your desktop. HOW YOU DOWNLOAD ALL OF YOUR GOOGLE DATA?
If you want to download all your Google data, then you can go to google.com/takeout and download all their data. As a Zip file the Google data was downloaded which includes, your data from Google Fit app if you use that app, your notes from Google Keep, YouTube data, Google Drive, etc.
