First 5G Commercial Modem

Barcelona: The world’s first commercial 5G modem that can deliver peak speeds of over 2000 (Mbps) megabit per second on next-generation networks, was unveiled on Sunday by the Chinese networks vendor, Huawei. For India, the announcement obviously highlights readiness for auction 5G airwaves and fast mobile broadband technology. The Chinese gear maker unveiled world’s first 5G consumer premise equipment (CPE) or router promising delivery of broadband speeds of up to 2 Gbps on 5G network.

In the time of unveiling the new technology in Barcelona the Huawei CEO, Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu, said that “Huawei Balong 5G01 is the world’s first 3GPP 5G commercial chipset with peak rate of 2.3 Gbps (gigabit per second),” and also added that ” the CPE will also support 4G networks as per the details.”

Huawei is collaborating with 30 operators, including Vodafone, globally to deploy product based on this chipset, told by Richard Yu.
