After Infinix Hot S3’s successor the Hong Kong-based Transsion which holdings Infinix brand, had launched it’s latest Infinix Hot S3X smartphone. The company added so many improved features in new Infinix Hot S3X. It priced Rs. 9,999. Now let’s see what the phone really worth it’s asking price of Rs. 9,999 or not. Infinix Hot S3X Review

The Infinix Hot S3X Display And Design

The Infinix Hot S3X offers a 6.2inch HD+ large display with a resolution of 720x1500 pixels and 18:75:9 aspect ratio. It gets a glossy gradient back panel with a slight mirror finish. The smartphone comes with Grey, Black, and Ice Blue color options. The Grey and Black both variants have the similar gradient design. Here we gave the review for the Infinix Hot S3X’s Ice Blue color option variant.

Onscreen navigation buttons are placed below of the display in the place of physical keys. This is not one-handed usable phone. The screen’s all corners are hard to reach with one finger. Inside the notch, the 16-megapixel selfie camera, earpiece, and dual LED flash are placed. At the right side of the smartphone, we saw the volume buttons, and the power button/lock button. There are no differences in the texture of the button, that ended up with several unintended presses. On the left, the tray can hold two NanoSIMs and microSD card at the same time. The dual camera set vertically on the rear and the rearmounted fingerprint sensor’s position is easy to use and it feels good. On the bottom, the Micro-USB port, microphone, external speaker grille, and on top the 3.5mm Headphone jack is placed.

The Infinix Hot S3X Cameras

The smartphone sports a 13megapixel primary camera and for a portrait shot a 2megapixel depth sensor is placed at the back. The camera app has basic controls and modes like AI Camera, Video, Beauty, Portrait, Night and Panorama. The camera app does not show previews of portrait shots and sometimes this led to shots which were out of focus.

The brightness and contrast levels are fine in rear camera. Quick toggles for elements are available in Camera 3.0 app, for example, there you get touch capture, gridlines, level, watermark, delayed capture, and HDR control. You cannot manually control the ISO, white balance, and shutter speed because there is no professional mode. Some shots like landscape shots, sky’s shots were good enough, and daylight shots were above average with overall color reproduction and good clarity.

At night, the Hot S3X could capture good portrait shots, that means, this phone’s low light performance is acceptable but, it could not manage good landscape night shots. You need to stand still until the photo is saved to avoid blur, so their stability was also seen as an issue. At 1080p it records video in both front and rear cameras.

The 16megapixel fixedfocus front camera takes clear selfies. In low light selfies are unclear and below-standard. There is a frontfacing LED flash which helps to take good selfies and you get whitens mode in front fixedfocus selfie camera.

The Infinix Hot S3X Battery Life

There is a 4,000mAh battery in the Infinix Hot S3X smartphone, which is similar to the previous Infinix Hot S3 smartphone. With the bundled 10W charger the battery charged from 0 to 100 percent in 2 hours and 10 minutes. In HD video loop test the battery clock only about 11 hours and 5 minutes. After usage like scattered light gaming sessions, checking email and browsing social media apps for a few times you will need for a quick 30-minute boost by 45pm to get the battery usable through the evening.

The Infinix Hot S3X Software And Processor

The phone runs on custom Hummingbird XOS 3.3 Lite operating system based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The functionality of this UI is similar to stock Android but the design is completely different, the company has not been yet announced the Android 9.0 Pie update for Hot S3X.

The Infinix Hot S3X is powered by an octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC processor that paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. You can expand storage up to 128GB via a microSD card. The processor has an Adreno 505 GPU,  eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores that running at speeds of up to 1.4GHz.

The Infinix Hot S3X Other Specifications, Features, And Performance

The Infinix Hot S3X is a dualSIM smartphone, that has two NanoSIM slots and both supports 4G. The mobile data is usable on only one SIM at a time. In Infinix Hot S3X connectivity options include, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, MicroUSB with OTG, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and GPS.

Custom versions of basic apps like, Camera, Weather, Messages, Phone, Contacts, and the Phoenix Web browser are included in Hot S3X. There is a feature called Freezer which helps to free up RAM and prevent specific apps from running in the background for a stipulated amount of time. The Hot S3X’s display supports perfect visibility in sunlight offers good viewing angles. The lowest brightness settings are comfortable for use in the dark, but the maximum brightness looks better.

You will see some Infinix’s preloaded apps, they are

XTheme to help you with different themes, the XClub customer forum, Carlcare for after-sales support, and XHide to hide pictures, videos, and voice recordings. There is the Phone Master app for cleaning up RAM, managing data usage, and for locking specific apps. To open Google Search, you can swipe down on any of the home screens.  The handy Smart Charge mode will give you reminders thus you can avoid overcharging the battery.

Performance of  Infinix Hot S3X was not satisfying us. The face unlocks using the selfie camera was slower. The lock pattern is faster and easy than face unlock. The fingerprint sensor is accurate but not up to the mark because it takes some time to unlock the phone, but it added functionality such as allowing you to take photos, browse through pictures, dismiss alarms using gestures, and accepts calls.

Subway Surfers and Candy Crush plays smoothly on the Infinix Hot S3X. The heavier game like Shadow Fight 3 also fine with a hint of stutter especially during the tutorial. The processor scored 58,389 in AnTuTu, and in Geekbench, it got a single-core score of 652 and a multi-core score of 2,075. GFXBench’s Car Chase test ran at a paltry 5.3fps. The heavy apps take sometimes to lode and you may see stutter at the time of scrolling through Twitter and Facebook.

Compared to the previous successor the Infinix  Hot S3, the new Infinix Hot S3X has been got some upgraded features in Display and cameras. The Hot S3X also get good and smart design, but there was some lack in Infinix Hot S3X’s performance. So, you can choose better options than Hot S3X. In Rs. 9,999 price segment you can go with Redmi 6 Pro (Rs. 9,999), Realme 2 (Rs. 9,699). The company’s first Android One smartphone, Infinix Note 5 is may be a good choice for you in this price segment. The more powerful Nokia 5.1 Plus (Rs. 10,900) and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 are preferable for you if you extend your budget a little bit.
