This device is easy to handle for its impressive design and good build structure, and we must inform you that, this handset may be the most lightweight, smallest, and cheapest handset in Moto G7 series. If we look at its display, we see that it has a 5.7–inch display with the 720p resolution, and it has the biggest notch among the G7 handsets of Motorola. This hand set’s one big smart feature has placed at the front which is the thinned bezels and the IPS LCD notched screen. On saturated the color rendering is average at best with an average DeltaE of 6.8 and the maximum deviation of 12, only saturated tones are the blues, for which the white and grays can be hurt a lot. In Auto mode, the G7 Play screen will enhance brightness up to 550 nits for a short period when you will use the G7 Play in bright sunlight. The maximum brightness of Moto G7 Play’s display does not brighten the around which is not bad, this has a maximum brightness of 436 nits. According to display test, the lowe brightness is 6.9 nits on G7 Play that can give some trouble to your eyes in dark rooms. The Moto G7 Play delivered 1468 contrast ratio in 100% brightness, it’s Black, cd/m square is 0.297 and White, cd/ m square is 436 in the 100% brightness.
C. BATTERY LIFE: The device has a 3,000 mAh battery you can charge that by 5W or 10W charger. This battery did that great job, that means, after web–browsing, making calls, and watching videos, we saw the battery remains impressively. This battery can deliver good battery life.
D. SPEAKER TEST: Similar to the battery life test, the G7 Play’s speaker is stunning, it offers deep and loud audio, but the loudness also varies on the weather that where you listen the audio. In what atmosphere the speaker provide sound that is important. The earpiece of Moto G7 Play looks like the counterpart of a loudspeaker. The Moto G7 Play speakerphone test revealed the overall score is very good, Pink noise/Music, dB is 74.4, Voice, dB is 66.6, and Rining phone, dB is 81.8.
E. AUDIO QUALITY TEST: The Moto G7 Play supplied perfect clarity and average loudness during the time of audio quality test through an active external amplifier. The disappointing thing is the headphones can drop the volume a bit.
F. CLEAN ANDROID PIE WITH A FEW MOTO SPRINKLES: As you may saw the Motorola company every time choose a near–stock Android version for a handset’s operating system, and this time also there is no change in tradition, the company has selected the Android 9 Pie ROM for the Moto G7 Play. For this reason, a Google Pixel device and the Moto G7 Play have equal looks in many segments. The standard looking interface includes quick toggles area, Pie notification shade, the new Pie task switcher and its multi–windows capabilities, and the list of recent apps in the task switcher which can be expanded into the drawer.
The launcher includes an optional Google feed screen on the far left and lends itself to a certain degree of customization, including editing number or rows and columns and toggling things like as app suggestions and home screen rotation, and notification dots. In the Moto app the familiar customizations named Moto Actions, and Moto Display were inputted by the company.
The Motorola added some tweaks, sprinkle, they keep the Moto assistant additions tidy and systematic. The Moto Actions app:- Moto Actions app let you enable Lift to unlock, Quick capture, Pick to silence, and Fast flashlight. You need to swipe left on the bar to go back, swipe right to quickly switch between the last two apps, for the task switcher you will need to swipe up. Just tap the bar to go Home, and tap-hold for the Google Assistant.
The Moto Display app:- The Moto Display app allow enabling the Peek Display, which shows the clock and notifications upon lifting your Moto G7 Play handset when Attentive Display turned on that time you would not lock the screen while you are looking at this. The battery life of the phone must down for that. The Moto G7 Play has almost no additional pre–installed apps, you nearly get the Google app package and if you see there your desired apps you can get them through Play Store very easily. The FM Radio receiver and an app to go with it were included there. An always–on fingerprint sensor has deposited on the back though that is not much secure way for you if you don’t really want to use Face Unlock feature you may choose the first option.
G. PERFORMANCE: Its Snapdragon 632 chipset has an octa-core Kryo 250 CPU with 4x Gold and 4x Silver cores that works at 1.8GHz, and the Moto G7 Play offers 2 gigs of RAM. To handle the graphics the device has Adreno 506 GPU, the Power, and Play models have lower -resolution 720p display, that may give them an edge in real-life onscreen performance.
H. CAMERA ( 13MP CAMERA WITH A LED FLASH): A 13 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 8 MP selfie snapper with an f/2.2 aperture are included in the Moto G7 Play. The rear camera feature a single LED flash, Phase–detection autofocus, and Auto HDR, and on other hands, the selfie shooter supports LED flash, and fixed focus feature. These can records video 1080 clips in 4K. The Manual mode is full–featured and supports shutter speed, manual focus, and ISO controls. The camera is impressive hardware–wise, this company surprisingly trying to improve and upgrade the cameras, thus we have seen the result.
I. IMAGE QUALITY (PORTRAITS, AND SELFIES):
A. The Portrait Mode– The portraits mode is available in Moto G7 play’s 13 MP rear camera. Though it has no depth sensor, the edge detection is not wrong when it met certain conditions, that’s not accurate almost. Shots are noisy and blurry.
B. The Selfie Mode– The 8MP selfie snapper (f/2.2) with LED flash of Moto G7 Play is able to click very good quality selfies. This selfie camera produced pictures with these features high contrast, real lively colors, good details, and great sharpness. The Portrait shots are looks much better in selfie snapper than the rear camera’s Portrait shot, not only that the selfie snapper’s edge detection is also very good the transformations look between blur and subject is natural and sharp also, in a few words we can say that the blurred background looks naturally very beautiful and elegant.
C. Image Quality– The camera of Moto G7 Play offers Auto HDR by default and the phone stack multiple images for a clean picture with dynamic range at the time of shooting in Auto HDR feature. When you turn off the HDR the camera can shoot noisy pictures with limited dynamic range. With HDR it takes about 2 seconds to take a photo but without HDR it works a little bit faster. With Auto HDR effect in the 13MP camera which also means with camera’s default settings you will get the classy and good pictures, it shoots pictures with accurate colors, tolerable noise, enough details, and for shadow detail you will say that it has no match, shadow detailing is great in this 13MP camera with Auto HDR support. In the low light segment, Auto HDR is worthless, their pictures are noisy and look lack in details, but the good thing is the exposure.
J. 4K VIDEO RECORDING: The Motorola G7 Play records video at 4K @30 fps in 1080p resolution. In the background, the Motorola Moto G7 Play presents fair EIS algorithm working for 1080p @30fps clips, and you get the ability to toggle that stabilization off when you want to use the entire frame without any crop. The 1080p at 60fps videos have similar bitrate as seen in 30fps, there you will found similarities in colors, dynamic range, and contrast, the only difference id in 30fps there is some lack in detail. The dynamic range is not bad and also not very good that is average, and the quality of video recording is excellent, that provide vibrant colors, high contrast, and rich detailing quality. On Moto G7 Play the video shots, which recorded at 4K @30 fps in 1080p resolution, the frame rate remains steady at 30fps, and you can save this in a standard configuration of a 17-ish Mbps AVC video feed, and a 48kHz stereo AAC audio track inside an MP4 holder.
CONCLUSION: There is no doubt that the Moto G7 Play is a strong and well build smartphone, but it is also true that there are also some lacks in Moto G7 Play like it takes more times to loading apps. The good sides of the smartphone are, at a low price, it offers you skillful, high-class, elegant camera, good chipset option, and good design. We think that this is a long-lasting device, the reason behind it is the Motorola’s wide support network, and Android Pie support. This also varies on users how they use it. So, if you want for a long-lasting smartphone you may choose the Moto G7 Play without stress we expect it will last for long times if you use it in the perfect way.
